D'aquí a un parell de setmanes me'n vaig als Estats Units, especialment a l'estat de Vermont, i volia fer algunes proves a partir de fotos de la xarxa, abans d'afrontar en viu i en directe aquells meravellosos colors que agafen els seus boscos a la tardor.

Before Vermont

Within a couple of weeks I am going to the United States, especially to the state of Vermont, and I wanted to do some tests from photos of the net, before facing live those wonderful colours that take its forests in the fall.

If I don't paint anything better from now to the end of June, I will show this still life at the exhibition of end-of-course of the workshop of the Catalonia Watercolorists Association.

Bodegó taronja en dos nivells

Aquest bodegó estava muntat al taller, i d'ell em va atreure aquest drap color taronja (un dels meus colors preferits) que dona una gran vistositat a tot el conjunt.

Orange still-life on two levels

This still-life was set up in the workshop, and I was attracted by the orange coloured tissue (one of my favourite colours) which gives a great brightness to the whole.

I have painted this still life in order to show it at the Spring Exhibition to be held at the Watercolorists Association of Catalonia from April 28th till May 12th.

Aquest bodegó el vaig pintar al taller la setmana passada. Jo no estava gaire satisfet amb el resultat, sobre tot per la roba, pel meu gust massa fosca, però com que a la gent del taller els hi va agradar, m'he decidit a penjar-ho al blog.

Still-life with a "botijo"  (drinking jug with spout)

I painted this still-life last week at the workshop. I was not quite satisfied with the result, over all due to the tissue, too dark for my taste, but, since my colleagues at the workshop liked it, I convinced myself to post it on the blog.

Les cebes s'han grillat

Com que acabava de pintar a casa les cebes que vaig penjar la passada setmana, vaig trobar divertit trobar-me al taller aquest altre bodegó amb les cebes grillades.

The onions have sprouted

As I had just painted the still-life with onions that I posted last week, I found funny finding at the workshop this other one with the onions already sprouted.

Un encàrrec

Una bona amiga, que de mica e mica s'esta convertint en la major col.leccionista de la meva obra (!!!), m'ha encarregat que li pinti aquesta aquarel.la a partir d'una fotografía treta en alguna part del Líban. Jo estic força satisfet del resultat, però ara és a vosaltres a qui us toca jutjar.

A comission

A good girlfriend of mine, who is becoming little by little the major collector of my work (!!!), asked me to paint a watercolour from a picture taken somewhere in Lebanon. I am satisfied enough with the result, but now it is your turn to judge.

Alguns dels de La Colla participem en una exposició que s’inaugura al Club de Natació Barcelona, que es troba a la platja de la Barceloneta. Encara que el tema és lliure, trobo que el més escaient és presentar alguna cosa de tema marí, i com que no tenia res que valgués la pena exposar, he aprofitat dues fotos que vaig fer aquest estiu a Croàcia, a l’illa de Korcula. M’ha costat, però estic bastant satisfet del resultat. Ja em direu què n’opineu.

Croatia (1)

I take part with some other members of La Colla in an exhibition that will open at the Barcelona Swimming Club, located at Barceloneta Beach. Even though the subject is free, I think that the most suitable is something about a marine subject and, as I had nothing that was worth to be exhibited, I have taken advantage of two pictures I took last summer in Croatia, at Korcula Island. It’s been a hard job, but I am satisfied enough with the result. I’d like you to tell me your opinion.

Il capello di paglia di Firenze

Jo no se si el barret de palla és de Florència, però sí sé que aquest és el títol d’una òpera de Nino Rota, i he pensat que aquest títol li esqueia al quadre. El que m’agrada d’aquesta composició és la contraposició masculí/femení que fan la pipa i el vano.

Il capello di paglia di Firenze
I don’t know if this straw hat comes from Florence, but I do know that this is the title of an opera by Nino Rota and I think that this title could suit the painting. What I like about this composition is the opposition masculine/feminine formed by the pipe and the fan.

Aquest és el darrer bodegó que he pintat al taller. M’ha costat un parell de sessions llargues, per la quantitat d’elements que hi intervenen i per la dificultat d’aconseguir el color de tres tonalitats diferents de coure.

Coppers, mangoes and a rosé grapefruit.
This is the last still-life I have painted at the workshop. It took two long sittings, due to the amount of pieces involved and the difficulty of getting the different tonalities of the three pieces of copper.

EL PUNT

Diari gironí que es publica també a Barcelona.

Sempre m'ha agradat la combinació dels blaus amb els taronges. i per això vaig voler fer aquest bodegó tan aviat el vaig veure al taller. Donat que hi havia tanta fruiteria, el vaig fer amb el full de paper més gros de que disposava. Els que ho van veure, els hi va agradar. Vosaltres, què n'opineu?

It's a journal from Girona also published in Barcelona.

I have always liked the combination of blues and orange colours, and that's the reason why I wanted to paint this still life the moment I saw it at the workshop. Because of the quantity of fruits involved in it, I did it in the biggest available paper sheet. Those who saw it, they did like. What is your opinion?

Sabatilles

Un altre bodegó fet al taller. Em va fer gràcia el tema de les sabatilles, que no tenien res a veure amb la resta del bodegó, i per això ho vaig pintar. Encara que el conjunt sigui una mica incoherent, crec que el resultat no ha estat malament.

Another still life made at the workshop. I found it funny, the subject of the baskets, that had nothing to do with the rest of the objects in the still life, and that's the reason why I painted it. Even though the ensemble might be a bit incoherent, I think the result is not too bad.

Dos nous bodegons

Aquests son els dos darrers bodegons que he pintat al taller. Jo estic bastant content, sobretot del segon. M'agradaria que em diguessiu què en penseu.

El far de Punta de Banya

Abans de anar-me’n de vacances de Pasqua, he volgut mostrar-vos aquest quadret del far de la Punta de la Banya, al Delta d’Ebre. Els fars sempre m’han semblat uns llocs molt solitaris i misteriosos, però aquest encara m’ho sembla més, al trobar-se al fons de tota aquesta planícia. Bé, no és un far d'en Hopper però crec que ho he aconseguit força bé. Tampoc estem a New England!
